A stunning example of A saltaire village house. Available now is this one of a kind grade II listed 1860s house, built in the Titus Salt era. The house has been renovated and modernised to a high standard and yet retains its character charm. There are many original features retained and featured in this deceptive house.
Saltaire Village is near Bradford in West Yorkshire, England. It is named after Sir Titus Salt who built a textile mill (Salts Mill) and the Saltaire village on the River Aire. Designed by architects, Lockwood and Mawson, Salts Mill was opened on Sir Titus Salt's 50th birthday, 20 September 1853 and in December 2001, Saltaire was designated a World Heritage Site by unesco. Properties within the village are very desirable, not only for their beauty, but also because location wise they are second to none; close by to a plethora of local shops, restaurants and businesses and fantastic travel links via road and the Saltaire village train station. The village is bustling with community feel and this oozes out of every street in the many social activities engaged in annually such as the Saltaire Beer Festival, The Saltaire Arts Trail and the Saltaire Living Advent Calendar.
Entrance hall Entrance to the property is granted via an internal porch leading to the grand entrance hall (rare for Saltaire village) which has the original Yorkshire stone flag flooring. This is a nice welcoming space to kick off muddy boots after walking in the local countryside.
Living room Located on the ground floor at the front of the house is the bright and welcoming living room. The living room is a lovely space with wooden flooring and a period correct front window.
Kitchen/ diner Open plan to the living room is the heart of the home. The modern kitchen/ diner is very well finished and boasts a large island/ breakfast bar as well as two wine fridges, an American style fridge freezer, dishwasher, built in microwave and impressive ‘rangemaster’ oven. The kitchen units are beautifully laid out making great use of the available space and the whole kitchen sits on yet more Yorkshire flag flooring.
Lower ground floor
snug To the rear of the lower ground floor is a fantastic, tanked, dry snug room with a working wood burning fire. The room is a great reception room and could potentially even be used as a bedroom.
Reception/ storage room At the front of the lower ground floor is another good sized reception room with Yorkshire flag flooring and exposed brick walls like the snug. This room has a window and radiator and like the snug is a versatile room.
Utility room and additional store room There are two additional rooms on the lower ground floor, a very handy utility room and also an additional storage room. Both have been tanked and done out to a very high standard.
master bedroom The master bedroom is located to the front of the first floor and is a very impressive double bedroom. The master bedroom has nice views out onto the famous Victoria Street in Saltaire. The master bedroom also has an original cast iron fire and an impressive, large walk in wardrobe.
bedroom two Also located at the front of the house is the second bedroom which is a very large single bedroom or could be a modest double.
Bedroom three/ study The third bedroom is at the rear of the house and would be a great nursery/ study or it could be utilised as a modest single bedroom.
The house bathroom is located on the first floor and benefits a very impressive and high specification bathroom which is a four piece suite including a free standing bath, separate walk in shower with fixed screen, toilet and hand basin; the well proportioned bathroom is adorned with tasteful tiling to the walls and has a large period correct window.
Rare for a village house there is a good sized outside yard at the rear of the house which leads into an arched back passage. Parking around the house is permit holder only (which will be passed on with the house sale) and local amenities are quite literally on the doorstep.
