A stunning contemporary styled immaculate modern holiday home enjoying delightful sea views. The Bay is a private and exclusive gated development of luxurious modern holiday homes, set on a magnificent stretch of coastal headland, above the two picturesque coves of Talland Bay, that are located midway between the well know coastal towns of Looe and Polperro.
Built in 2015, Number 44 is one of four larger detached houses that were built as part of the final phase of building at The Bay. 44 sits closest to the sea out of the four, enjoying the best of the stunning sea and coastal views from both ground and first floor levels, which combine to make it the best house on the site. Our clients were also able to have input with regard to the layout at the design and construction stage and so were able upgrade certain elements such as the oak staircase and the superb first floor glazed balcony, improving the sea views so they are visible from the hot tub and seating areas, which all combine to create their ultimate coastal holiday home.
The striking and impressive cedar clad contemporary exterior sets the scene as you arrive. Finished and specified to a very high standard, both internally and externally, the property has a sense of quality from the moment you approach and set foot across the threshold. The excellent open plan layout of the living accommodation welcomes you into the very spacious and sociable environment and draws you to the large glazed doors of the sitting area, which enjoy sea views and also an immediate outlook over the outside terrace and delightful colourfully planted borders.
Originally designed as 4 bedrooms, our clients amended the layout to provide two very luxurious double bedrooms and bathrooms. The opulent master bedroom is a very relaxing space and enjoys a large and stylish en suite bathroom. The second bedroom is also a very comfortable double room and is served by a separate bathroom.
The outside areas are as appealing as the inside, with a good sized patio terrace on the south side of the house and the entire roof top being an accessible and enclosed entertaining space that enjoys the best of the sea views. Accessed via the oak internal staircase from the living room, the stairs lead up to a small sun pod sitting area, with doors opening on to the large roof terrace. At the seaward end of the roof terrace is a large area of timber decking and the glazed balcony, providing a large area to sit and enjoy the views and space for the large hot tub. At the rear is a large astro turfed garden measuring 27 x 24’ where there is ample room for bbq’s and a large outside dining table.
This appealing development comprises of stylish and well designed contemporary properties with excellent on-site facilities that include a superb indoor swimming pool, gym, large sauna as well as a good sized lounge and terrace that guests have access to throughout the day.
This section of the South Cornish coast is a beautiful and unspoilt location, designated both as an Area of Outstanding Beauty and a Heritage Coast. Both towns are also accessible by walking in opposite directions along the South West Coast Path, that is immediately accessible from the grounds of The Bay.
The main beach is the more westerly of the two coves and is known as Talland Sand. As the name suggests, it is the sandier of the two and is also well equipped for family visitors and the excellent Talland Bay Beach Café is located on the edge of the beach. Rotterdam Beach is on the opposite side side, overlooked by St Tallanus Church and has the Smugglers Rest Café. This is generally the slightly quieter of the two beaches as there is a little less sand and access is via steps. Both beaches are dog friendly throughout the year. Just above and overlooking the beaches is the award winning Talland Bay Hotel, that offers a bar and both relaxed and fine dining options from its two excellent restaurants.
Nearby East and West Looe are positioned on either side of a pretty river and set around a busy fishing harbour that is connected by a fine old bridge. This popular location offers an excellent range of shops, good restaurants and pubs, as well as many picturesque streets of pretty fisherman’s cottages. The location is also perfect for those wanting access to sailing opportunities as well as the quality golf courses of Looe or the nearby Jack Nicklaus designed St Mellion International.
