Description

Site This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a 3600sqm development site with detailed Planning Permission for 70 new dwellings situated in the heart of West Cornwall's ever popular town of Hayle.

Hayle is famed for its three miles of golden sands, Hayle is one of the most popular holiday locations in the South West. The modern parish shares boundaries with St Ives, approximately 3 miles to the west, and St Erth to the south, Gwinear and Gwithian in the east.

A site of this magnitude in such an enviable location is seldom available, and as such is certainly an eye catching development opportunity.

1 x 4 bedroom house. 2 x 2 bedroom houses. 10 x 1 bedroom flats and 57 x 2 bedroom flats. Revised and improved access road. Parking provision. Landscaping. Cycle and bin storage. Retention of existing 'Scoria' block retaining wall at the rear of the site.

Location Situated on the opposite side of St Ives Bay, Hayle is famed for its three miles of golden sand. The beaches start at the mouth of the estuary, which is regarded as an international quality bird-watching spot. Sightings include avocets, ospreys and a host of wading birds. Following the crescent of the beach brings you to the first lifeguard patrolled beach – Hayle Towans, slightly more sheltered from the Atlantic waves and nearly 2 miles long it offers plenty of room for the whole family.

Next is Gwithian, popular with both locals and holiday makers. This is one of the most popular surfing beaches in the area and holds a decent sized swell. Beneath the sands lie the remains of one of Cornwall's oldest churches. The village of Gwithian is an attractive cluster of cottages and church on the winding coastal road between Hayle and Portreath. The stretch of Hayle sands end at Godrevy Point where Godrevy lighthouse stands on an island about 50 metres out to sea. The point and car park are owned by the National Trust.

Hayle town is divided into two districts, Copperhouse and Foundry. Both these names reflect Hayle's industrial heritage which dates back to the time when the Phoenicians traded for tin over 2000 years ago. Even earlier, during the Iron Age, Hayle was on the major route to St Michael's Mount.

Planning &106 agreement On 12th December 2018 Cornwall Council under reference PA15/10513, granted conditional permission, subject to the conditions set out on the attached schedule, for the development proposed in the following application received on 10 November 2015 and accompanying plan(s):

Demolition of existing warehouse type building comprising 3,600 square metres of floorspace and the erection of a 70 unit residential development.
